If a couple is having unprotected sex for over a year and are unable to conceive naturally, it is qualified as infertility. It is on the rise and on an average 15-20% of couples are infertile. Out of these, about 20% of infertility issues could be andrological (male) infertility.
Male infertility is due to low sperm production, abnormal sperm production or blockages which prevent the delivery of sperm. Illnesses, injuries, chronic health problems and lifestyles choices are other factors responsible for male infertility.
Infertility in a couple indicates that either of the partners may be infertile. There is really no other obvious sign or symptom. In some cases, however, an underlying problem such as an inherited disorder, hormonal imbalance, dilated veins around the testicle, or a condition that blocks the passage of sperm may cause signs and symptoms.
